Avery the 4 year old rock star!
I wish I could blog every shoot… it’s the ones that stand out to me that are irresistible to share. After meeting Miss Avery and spending a few hours with this unbelievable 4 year old I knew I’d be telling you all about her.
Let’s start with her first walking through my door. She immediately took to my dogs, within minutes she was asking “Miss Jen, can you take the dogs out <of the pen>” She’s pretty fearless when it comes to animals as her parents informed me. Next thing I know she’s got an apple from my fruit bowl (after asking politely of course) and is sharing it with Lola. I’m not 100% opposed to eating after my dog but found it so amusing that Avery wanted to be kind to Lola like that. They were forming a kinship right there as we were discussing clothing options! Stacey and Dave, her parents, sort of turned a blind eye as we all giggled.
Once we got to our destination she was full of excitement and fun. We clicked away in the first set of outfits then headed down to the beach, my favorite secret spot in Laguna. She was mesmerized by the ocean and couldn’t wait to start playing. As I was taking some shots of her by herself I said “Who’s got the most beautiful blue eyes on the whole beach?” and her reply was “I DO!” Lol!!!
By the end of the shoot in outfits #2 we started letting her get her feet wet. I’ve been shooting for 14 years, and I must say that Avery is one of the bravest little girls I’ve ever seen. Utterly fearless. There are some big swells going on right now so the waves were GIANT today. Also they break pretty powerful on the shoreline at this particular cove and she was right there with a ‘bring it on’ attitude. She was getting rocked as she held her Dad’s hand from being swept away… and wanted more and more!!! Stacey and Dave know they have a very special little girl on their hands… we’re all so amazed by her zest for life and her kick-ass fervor! Stacey told me that she actually tells her “don’t give up Mom, you can do it” in times of struggle or frustration. At 4 years old, really?!?! I told them that I want to stick around just to see what she ends up doing later on in life. My guess would be pro snowboarder, dirt bike champion, pro surfer, definite X Games candidate, hmmmm… maybe first woman president??? I really need to get this childs autograph while I still have the chance-haha. I was laughing and saying she may be their ticket to an early retirement! I meet a lot of children, but for her age (or even kids three times her age) she has a quality that is very very rare.
It’s Avery’s world, we’re all just lucky to get to be in it!!!!
Here are a few highlights of her shoot… Love ya kiddo!
