Leslie and John’s Magical Disney Destination Wedding

Leslie and John found me thanks to a very dear client/friend. I knew before I met them that they’d be an amazing couple based on their friendship with such a wonderful woman who sent them my way (thanks again Ana!) We sat down together one afternoon and with a blink of an eye 2 hours had passed. We covered the basics, the hours needed and what details they’d already chosen, but found ourselves just chatting about life, animals and our pets, how they met, we simply clicked. In all fairness it’s pretty easy to get along with them… Leslie is such a kind soul full of smiles and giggles. John is a bit more reserved (likely not once you get to know him though haha) which gives Leslie the floor to shine. I just love how happy and positive they are, and how they sprinkle that on everything they come in touch with!

These two met in the Navy, many years ago. Their love story is so sweet because they spent time traveling and getting to know each other amongst the difficult circumstances of Naval terms. They now reside in Iowa which separated Leslie from her other true love, Disney. It seemed like the obvious choice to have their wedding with a red, white and blue color scheme across the street from “the happiest place on earth”. They chose the Anabella Hotel with a peek-a-boo view of California Adventure’s roller coaster and ferris wheel. But the crazy part is after all the years this hotel has stood, hosting Disney explorers for decades, Leslie and John were to be the very LAST wedding at the venue. At the time of writing this blog it has been demolished to rebuild a towering, massive hotel to take it’s place. As we went about the property using it’s Southern California theme as our backdrop it was eerie to know this would be the last photos ever taken. Having these two was a great omen for the future of the land, their love is so genuine it is sure to christen the property with good vibes! The best part of their day is that it didn’t have to end when the DJ stopped and the guests trickled out. They had a huge day planned to head over the next morning and enjoy the park with all their closest friends and family!! What a true fairy tale for her…

Below are my favorites from their day, telling the story from dressing to Disney’s firework show in the sky. Congratulations Mr and Mrs O’Brien, I will definitely be staying in touch with you xo
